I finally got around to putting my music history outline and characteristics of periods docs on my website. They are intended for AS\A2 music students, but anybody who wants them can have a copy. Visit my website at www.hopwood3.freeserve.co.uk and follow the link in the panel on the left to download them.

Think you've sent these to me before, but I'll go have a look anyway.

Have just had a peek at the first page - that was the sort of thing I'd have liked to have found when I was researching my dip stuff, just to get a context for my pieces. If there's another exam at some time, I'd know where to look for that! Thanks.

If there's another exam at some time, I'd know where to look for that! Thanks. My pleasure. The whole point is to give students a wide angle, from which they can zoom in on areas they actually have to know. Sadly, I know 'A' level music students. They will print off the lot and use the notes to bulk out their folders, saying, "Look at all the stuff I have to learn." Ask them what their folders actually contain, and they will look blank ;D Ah well, we can only offer them our best. That is what I do. Steve

Wow - that's very generous of you.
I didn't really have an overview before I found your notes. Thank you.

I have neither of the documents you suggest but will think about producing them. I am getting an increasing number of post grade theory 5 students, so it would be useful for them to have a guide. I will definitely do a chord progression doc and put it on the website. I will send you a pm when it is done.

Steve, if you are going to produce some post grade 5 theory documents then could I possibly have a copy if you don't mind.
