I have a book of his 24 preludes. I love number 14 in Eb minor..not that I can play it! Is this the opus 34 set?? They're wonderful little miniatures Actually the ones that really do it for me are the Opus 87 Preludes AND Fugues (OP 34 is just preludes!). One of the Opus 34 Preludes was used as the theme tune for a sitcom called "Ever decreasing circles" - did anyone ever see it? I think Shosta would have chuckled at the idea of his "art" being used on BBC1!! Interesting anecdote.... Apparently he sat in on the rehearsal for one of his orchestral works (making all the musicians very nervous). Throughout the whole rehearsal he uttered not a single word.....but at the end he got up and walked straight up to one of the viola players and pointed out ONE note that the player had played wrong! :-XHe then walked off without saying anything else! OUCH!
