....but would like to recommend? I came to hear of a concert I'd really like to have gone to, but can't, because its miles away, and I'll be having to organise a trip to the USA for a week or two afterwards . Here are the details - Wednesday, 26th. September '07. 6 pm. Steinway Hall, Marylebone Lane, London,W1U 2DB A Celebration of the English Pastoral Tradition Hedges, Meyers, Ellerby, Jacob, Fulton New works by Nick Burt and Francis Routh Nick Burt is a composer, organist and jazz pianist based in Rugby, Warwickshire. Rosewood Sonata is a major new work for treble recorder and piano which has been written for recorder player Caroline Jones. Caroline and pianist Charles Matthews will premiere this work at their Steinway Hall Recital in September. Their programme also includes a new work for piano solo by Francis Routh. Fulton, Scottish Suite; Jacob, Variations; Hedges, Three Concert Miniatures and Meyers, Reflections, make up this ''Celebration of the English Pastoral Tradition''. I got to know Caroline Jones when she played some Gordon Jacob really beautifully at a concert in which I'd been asked to play a duet with a friend, and have since been lucky enough to have played a duet with Caroline too - and Charles' accompaniments are wonderful too. Anyone else nearer at hand who would fancy going instead of me?

Ooh, I got a pm on TOP about another concert - will try to get to this one though - it's in Paisley, is that miles away, AP/YAP? November 3rd, Capella Nova are apparently doing Tallis' "Spem in Alium" (and yes, we do also call it Spam in Garlic Sauce at home )

Erm, I know where Paisley is, at least abstractly.... RAC say it's about an hour and a quarter from Edinburgh to Paisley, and 35 minutes from our house to Paisley. If it's late and you want to go, you're welcome to stay over .

Ironically, a further cross-check of diaries shows that a family member needs to be in Glasgow the following day - which may mean I can't because I'll have to head back to fetch them - spam not being a favourite dietary ingredient for her . *GLUM* Many thanks for the kind offer, though; if another concert like that ever comes up, can I take you up on it? Assuming dates & times were convenient, obviously?

I've only heard him play piano and harpsichord, but could well be - he was playing some Handel from the figured bass only, and was very good at it.
Quietly spoken man - Caroline and I were doing most of the talking when we met.
