Does anyone here do much of it? Do you enjoy it? I used to hate it but quite like it now. I've composed a clarinet sonatina, two solo piano pieces, a piano piece with melody for another instrument integrated into the piano part because I've not decided yet, a string quartet, two wind quartets, and this afternoon I've started one piece for solo flute which will become part of a set and a piece for sax and piano which I'm working on now.

Good Grief, woman - can't you do the usual studenty thing and either laze around all day or get drunk (or both in my day!) rather than working!
Can u txt me your home address - I might be on the road this weekend and want to drop some theory stuff off to be marked (creep, creep!)

He's too good . You should compete! Write a sax suite like he did and I'll be the judge!

I've just looked at the syllabus and it seems really good. What sort of folk song would be a good idea to use? When writing something for 2 instruments, can it be in separate movements or does it have to be one whole thing?

Does anyone have a linky for the LCM composing grades?
Does one do the compositions and send them in?
Would love to try something like that.

When writing something for 2 instruments, can it be in separate movements or does it have to be one whole thing? Refering to Grade Two - I think I might go for the Original Composition for the second item and chicken out of the folk song/hymn altogether. Two movements? - Hadn't thought of that. I was going to do them together. Are we having a mass submission? Who else is entering? This is going to take the LCM by storm. (It does seem to stir strong feelings of indignation in some people I've mentioned it to, actually - in that it seems a bit pretentious to be considering myself capable of doing this when I haven't taken any music exams of any sort ever....

I'd like to do it, but might have to email them with some questions. One really annoying thing is a composition I want to submit but I only have a recording and I've lost the score .

there are computer programs which will generate a score from a recording - it would then need correcting a little - I think they might cost hundreds of pounds though - you might get access to one through your uni?
