The gr8 exam was interesting. I did it backwards. Q2 seemed incredibly easy, I must have either got 15 marks or failed it completely The rest was OK. I hope for 75....

Congratulations to all the theorists for getting through it, and in particular to Mr B for keeping going right through to grade 8. Anyone up for grade 7 in the summer . Have been threatening to do it for a while, I'm just trying to convince myself that I want to do anything ever again after just having finished a PhD, my motivation to do things has disappeared . Hopefully I'll be back to feeling mad enough to agree soon .

I'm just expounding my view on MSN that gr6, 7 and 8 are effectively the same for Q3, Q4 and Q5. If you just concentrate on the changes in Q1 and Q2 in each one, you can do all three.
TRUST ME, I'M NOT A DOCTOR

Do you think I should complain to the board? Daughter arrived (with 36 other candidates) at about 4.45pm to find a hand-written note on the exam-room door saying there was a room change. There were no directions at all, but luckily I know the campus quite well, so I set off to find the new room. When we got to the new room there were no identifying signs at all and the exam room was far from ready. At 5 pm they were still trying to cobble enough desks and chairs together. The candidates all had to hang around waiting until 5.10 to be let into the room. Daughter thought it was very funny...but others could have been really unnerved by this chaos. I'm assuming that the problem was the venue, and not really ABRSM's fault, but maybe I should let them know???

Yes definitely, it might happen again at the next session and cause more chaos for other candidates.

The general consensus seems to be that the Grade 5 exam was quite easy. Would this be right?

Well my pupil found it quite ok, but I'd have expected that.

I had four pupls in for it and I've not managed to speak to them about it yet. Anybody know what came up on the paper?

I think the tranposition was for clarinet in A, I don't remember anything else I was told .

Hopefully they would've been ok. One was always putting enharmonics in all over the place on the transposition, so I hope that she checked properly!!!!
