Any suggestions? Every good forum needs some rules to be broken, and the less arbitrary the better . A few people have hinted towards rules or reasonableness or whatever in the past few days so I thought I'd kick off a discussion. I would suggest the following, but as always it's democractic: 1) Be nice; if you are not nice, smiting may ensue.... 2-i) Any offensive material may be moved to the wine bar 2-ii) If you feel the need to post something offensive, do it in the wine bar 3) The moderators are lazy or busy, please don't make them work hard . 4) No games - there are plenty of websites with those on...

Don't complain if someone happens to disagree with your viewpoint.

How about a rule that says that the moderators will tell you if you've over-stepped the line? That they will explain to you what you've done wrong? That they will let you know if they are planning to get rid of you?

Don't complain if someone happens to disagree with your viewpoint. Doesn't that depend. Someone acusing me of being a pushy parent is just pure insulting.

There's a difference between having a different viewpoint, which is entirely acceptable and what makes for good discussion, and personal attacks which are entirely unacceptable and need to be nipped in the bud pretty smartish whenever it happens.

I'm getting totally confuzzled with all the name changes (treebs seems to have an identity crisis, and Nat seems to be someone different everyday, goodness knows who everyone else is??)
So...can we have a rule that you are who you are registered as and you don't change it every 5 mins? Its bad enough trying to work out who is a regular forumee, who is new, and who is a mischief maker with a false ID, without folks changing their user names on a whim.
I know it's good fun, but it ain't half confusing for me (who I think has usually sussed it out), but how the new forum members cope with knowing who is who must be nigh on impossible. Its not really very friendly.
