The AB forums appear to be prone to 'too many connections' errors at the moment. These arise due to the AB forum's database server becoming overloaded. As a user, there's nothing to do but wait; the solution requires one of two things:
- buying a more powerful database server, capable of supporting more connections - cutting back on forum traffic

Well that would cause a surfeit of traffic and the resulting database problems . I suppose there is one thing one can do as a user: post less .

Of course another alternative is to invest in a decent database back-end rather than the less-fit-for-purpose-in-this-instance mySQL....

There main server was down then...just as I wanted to check an exam syllabus online as I was teaching.

looks like those brochures may yet be needed - after a few days of peace, they are down again. And the summer hols are not yet over, at least for all those down in England...
