I'm so exitied, Alexander my youngest swam a width of Bury St Edmunds Teaching Pool without buoyancy aids.

Carbon fibre bow with nylon hair? Strings - gut would be a non-starter, but nylon cored strings should be okay. The metal might rust a bit more quickly, but otherwise okay.
