No?! What's brought this on?
At Huddersfield we had a number of students who transferred from music college and Lancaster University so it does happen.

I only know people who have done direction-changing, but for one thing, a long time ago, and for another, most of them sort of finished what they were doing first, and then went on - so a friend who was studying chemistry was also able to do units in music, gathered enough of those to cover the requirements of his first year in music and then, instead of taking the four years of a Scottish Honours degree, did an ordinary in three and then went on to do music next. He did have to do a lot of not-wonderful jobs to pay his way, but was able to sweet-talk the university into letting him change. Different if you want to live elsewhere, and I would imagine tougher.

I know a few people who did it after there first year, it has to be done through ucas (I think) do you have any ideas of where it is you want to move to? some unis might let you do it direct based on you meeting a set mark at the end of your second year.

Not personally, but a couple of friends have. One was doing forensic sci at Glamorgan and it was too quiet for her, she hated only having one pub to go to (or paying £20 ina taxi to Cardiff!) - she went through UCAS and moved to Nottingham to do BMedSci, but had to start first yr again.
T'other ones were medics at the end or 2nd year and decided it wasn't for them. One went to BMedSci, only had to do third year to graduate, arranged through the med schooland uni directly. The other started a music degree, arranged through uni directly again.
What's brought all this on?

Is this for you or someone else? I think that for some courses people can transfer credits from one to another, but I'm not sure if they have to be similar enough - so you may be able to transfer unis quite easily but depending on what the new course was you might not be able to transfer all the credits. Saying that, I would have thought that arts credits could be transfered to most art courses, science to science etc. and there might be a bit of overlap. If all else failed, courses can be left and people can start again on a new path in life - it might seem like hard work but it's better than being stuck in a life you don't want. Follow your heart and be alive Sorry for sounding crazy, I'm off to join the circus xxx
