At work, I have no choice and I exclaimed about the beauty of Nureyev's physique in front of my husband, so I'm not in any way deceiving him - he knows I love him best anyway ;D

Hmmmm. I come across my wife looking at photos of Nureyev and me in a leotard. Bet I know which one she would put down first. ;D Although, there was that photo that YAP once put up.............

I remember that. What does a virtual leotard feel like, to wear?! ;D Slightly tight around the virtual nether regions, especially when performing a plie

Does anyone know where one can find a Jabberwocky? I've appear to have become surrogate TOP mum to 12 year old using the name Beamish Boy! It's not a case of wanting dead Jabberwockies all around the place, and this Beamish Boy can make some sense... its just if he's busy trying to slay another one, he might stop telling everyone how mature he is!

If I were you, I'd steer clear of that one, jod. I can't help thinking BB is Trouble - I'm afraid I'm also in the camp which finds him unbearably irritating - and should be left to find his jabberwocky and hope it doesn't give him indigestion if he should try barbecuing it...

I am of the opinion that BB is a troll, carefully crafted by some cheeky existing forum personality... Oh hush my cynicism!

He seems to think I'm some kind of surrogate mother. Having read his blog I think he genuine, and I can understand people thinking he's a complete pain. He irritates me too and clearly has a lot of growing up to do. As for being a troll....well he could be and inadvertently he is certainly trolling. He's the only person on TOP that makes me question what I write, the level of inuendo and candour.
I suppose if I continue to be mumsy and try to express the things that really get up my wick in a caring manner I could turn him into a decent forums member. Might be hard, a challenge. I know teenagers with his apparent level of social skills. They get on everyone's nerves and for some reason I feel sorry for them and attempt a rehabilitation.

Hi guys! The best thing to do with the likes of BB is respond to his better ideas, as you would with anybody, and ignore the rest. But that's not easy when his every comment takes up the next two pages in responses from other people! Maybe I'm too trusting (I certainly have been in the past with trolls!) but I don't actually think he is one; I think he's just a bit self-obsessed and thrives on being humoured - like the toddler who knows that temper tantrums in Tescos will work for him. About the thread(s) in question that were deleted. I more or less missed them! That sort of discussion gets so tangled up in 'suitabilty' arguments that the original argument gets lost, and those who want to discuss the subject properly - in an appropriate and 'suitable' manner - are viewed as looking for 'titilation'. (I can't remember who used that word, but somebody did.) So it gets to the stage where there's not a lot of point in giving an opinion...

Couldn't watch the programme ourselves unfortunately as we were away . Saw part of a programme in which Stephen Fry was speaking the other day, and he made a point about people being offended. It's never the person themslef that takes offence, everyone is offended on behalf of someone else (and the younger generation are often used as the 'excuse' party, i.e. young people shouldn't see that). If only people who were actually offended themselves complained, instead of people complaining on behalf of hypothetically offended people, I'm sure there'd be far fewer complaints in the world . The best musical threads are often something that has spun off from the original topic, so I don't think being 'off topic' is a reason to delete a thread in itself. The whole point of the cafe being set up was the fact that humans, even if all united by a collective interest, will naturally wish to discuss other topics. I think the ABRSM were being rather overcautious on that one.

I also missed the thread developing into something far more interesting, what happened? Last time I saw it it was only 2 pages long, and to be honest unless you were in the ballet world or over 30 it is unlikely you would remember someone who died in 1993 and hadn't been in the public eye as much as he had been in the 60's 70's.
The programme was fascinating, and I've kept it for my girls to watch, as they don't understand the concept of Europe as it was back then. My 10 year old has just read a conspiracy theory book based upon the cold war and although she enjoyed the book on face value, we spent ages discussing it one evening putting it into context and she just couldn't believe it.
Re the general knowledge, what annoys me is I enjoy a quiz every now and then, but I've been to so many that consist of who's married or sleeping with who in Eastenders, C Street or Hollyoaks none of which I watch and they just don't ask the maths, science or any pre 1980 arts questions because they assume nobody will know the answer. I think it was on millionaire one night one of the major prizes maybe £500k was how many hydrogen atoms are in one molecule of water. (have I got my molecules and atoms around the right way?)
