Go on a 4 week holiday somewhere where booze is very cheap. Don't see any other solution ;D ;D ;D

Isn't it a pity you can't get a courtesy piano?

Courtesy piano....not an option, I'm afraid. But I do have a Yamaha keyboard (YUK!) which my kids thing is great cause it makes noises like helicopters etc!!
4 week holiday not an option either - don't think my headmaster would approve!!

Go into a music shop and ask if you can play a piano every week coz you "want to buy it"

Don't ask . When YAP, AP, CD and I went to Dawsons in Chester we just played for ages with no intention of buying, and we didn't ask either .

Go into a music shop and ask if you can play a piano every week coz you "want to buy it" Well now you come to mention it, I have been seriously lusting after a Steinway in our local music shop - I think the price tag is almost as much as my mortgage - but yes, what a fine instrument to practice on! I am actually amazed how much I'm missing my piano - much more than I thought I would. Its been gone barely three days and I've got really itchy fingers. I thought I'd spend my "desert-wasteland experience" reading around for my diploma, so I've been busy ordering things from my local library (very handy - you can view the entire Lancashire catalogue online, and then order online, and they e-mail you when its ready to be collected!). Today I collected a 3 CD set of Nicolyeva playing Shostakovich - of course I HAD to listen as soon as I got home, but then I DESPERATELY wanted to play. Oooooooooh its enough to drive me to the cheap booze Steve was mentioning!

This is AWFUL. I can't believe how much I'm missing it - its like a bereavement. Don't EVER let me do this again. Heard another piece of Shostakovich on the radio yesterday - immediately wanted to play through it - hunted down the music, turned round and ..................................................NO PIANO.......AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
It feels like amputation (I imagine!) - I've had offers from friends who don't mind me invading their homes to play their pianos....but its just not the same. Am going to piano teacher's house tomorrow to practise on her beautiful Broadwood....but I want to play NOW!!!!
Funny thing is...we go to France for 5 weeks every summer, during which time I'm lucky if I manage to play 30 minutes a week (we have a few piano-friendly places we go to, and I spend a lot of time in music shops!).........but it never feels as painful as this (probably because I'm used to it and always plan "non-playing" things to do like background reading & theory). Definitely need Steve's cheap booze!

Hopefully only another week to endure.....but its interesting how my bassoon playing has improved significantly since piano went away!! Might be an important lesson to learn here......
