She lives just up the valley from me!! Apparently she won't teach anyone beyond Grade 4? ? In Russia? ?

Rubbish, all of it, but the students love it and will play it into the ground. That is all I need to use her work. I describe it as 'rubbish'. I also describe most of the AB stuff in the same way - Keyboard Anthology etc. The latter is full of drivel by the likes of Fibbich, Kirnberger, Rathgerber et al. The kids hate this. Is there any easier repertoire that you like? Or would you be more of a grade 8 in two weeks and then a few concerti person if you had to start now ? Personally I'm not a fan of the PW stuff, well I say that I haven't heard much of it, but I just don't like that style of 'jazzy' piece I find them a little 'cheesy' for want of a better word .

Cheese is great! Exactly! anyone used jazzin' about? Piece no.10 (can't remember what it's called - it's in disco style! ;D) is the ultimate in cheese! It rocks. Just occassionally though she does something stupid like put a naff major chord on the end of a groovy minor piece in which case I have to cross it out! I say to my pupils - Pammy is obviously a very talented composer, but sometimes she just needs a little help from me... it cracks them up every time! ;D

I use all the Jazzin' About series with my lot - they love it. When it comes to unmitigated cheese, then the last one in the JA book has to take the prize. ;D The parents go into extasy over it. PW's titles make us all chortle. As 15 year old Kate said of the cheesy pieces in After Hours last week, "I love these pieces. She is damn useless at picking titles, though. I reckon she has a computer that generates random titles."

The absolute _worst_ for titles is green jazzin' about! The songs aren't her best either - resold that one on e-bay! ;D

Hehe. Yep, this is PW at her worst for both composing and piece titles - some really bad ones. ;D I still find enough material in the book to use, although I prefer the others.

I'm always disappointed that the next books after jazzin' about aren't called "Hard Jazzin' About" and "REALLY Hard Jazzin' About" ;D ;D ;D (to follow on from "Really Easy Jazzin' About" and "Easy Jazzin' About" for anyone unfamiliar with these books! Even the apostrophe after Jazzin' makes me laugh! ;D(I'm easily amused ))
