Did a concert at school last night, which will be followed by my piano exam tommorrow and then the c&c intermediate wind band concert next thursday - it's at the end of a residential so I'm quite looking forwards to finding out what the music is! The stuff we played last year was really great! Then I need to get my do a grade 6 flute exam so that I'm allowed to audition for the actual C&C wind band...

Thanks! Yeah, nothing I can do so I'll just concentrate on having fun with all the new pieces I'm planning on learning and plenty of Einaudi therapy needed!

Yay - Grease is cool! JCS is cooler though - it's so 70's and cheesy!

Well I've just got back from the second band call for JCS and - miracle of miracles - the band can actually play! They are jazz/rock musicians from Holland and although their music-reading is dodgy (as ever - with rock musicians!) they are very competant at picking things up and it's sounds great. Yay!

I've just come back from my first rehearsal with Edinburgh Symphony Baroque.....oh, my goodness. they can all count, I can't and the other recorder player wasn't there, so I had to hold the fort for the whistle department, aaaargh. Lucky I can do the notes! Does anyone know of a good recording of Handel's "Xerxes" - not by English National Opera done about three decades ago? If I can hear how it goes, I won't have so much difficulty, but the problem is that there is very little in the way of cues, and there keep being chunks of recitative of indeterminate length.

Brilliant, glad you enjoyed it . Do you think you'll feel any less on the second night, having done it before?

I hope so, though I guess a bit of nerves help get adrenaline going for a performance...the conductor was saying that the real dress rehearsal is always the first performance, and that he likes it when you get the chance to do a run of the same programme because it just gets better. Next performance will be Saturday 26th August.
