Hi all, i've decided to bite the bullet and do this exam alongside my classical grade 8 at the end of the year I have some songs already in my repertoire that need tweaking and could use some help in putting a programme together. Waltz of my heart (Novello) Love this one! Wishing you were somehow here again (can do this one well although abit bored of it now) Getting to know you Various Gershwin songs (love Gershwin) On My Own (les mis) I dreamed a dream (les mis) Maybe this time (cabaret) O What a beautiful morning Another suitcase in another hall I need to pick a programme to last about 20 mins and am open to further suggestions. Am working on the confidence bit with an accompanist. Thanks

Just a thought - maybe Oh what a beautiful morning is not such a good idea as it is really a guy's song? Maybe they don't count that against you, but you would think at diploma level you would better with songs more specific to your voice? (disclaimer - I am a pianist!)

true, hadn't thought of that! ;D I guess I could earn extra marks for pulling off both male and female in costume though

having just played in Handel's "Xerxes" last week...we had 1) a woman dressed as a man, and in love with a tree 2) a man who sounded like a woman, playing a man 3) a man who couldn't really have been anything else, whose character dressed up as a woman at one point 4) a woman who spent most of the opera dressed as a man, but eventually revealed herself to be a woman
Any of those appeal? ;D

How about "my secret love" from Calamity Jane? Was in Calamity a couple of years back and loved that song. I was Henry Miller, but sang male chorus parts too. "Adelaide" is really nice too - enjoyed singing that.
