What did it feel like when you entered your first pupil for an exam? Scary??? It's over_the_hill_clarinettist's exam on Monday, and I'm nervous myself!!

Terrifying!! ;D I was convinced she'd fail, that I was an awful teacher, that I'd ruined any chance she had as a pianist....It was enough to make me never want to enter anyone ever again. Then, she came out, said it was fine and the examiner seemed nice and she thought it was all ok. It must have been, because she got a merit. Neither of us have looked back since! Good luck to you both!

The first is the worst, although I still hate the wait for the results - another reason to switch to Trinity guildhall. I put 3 in on my first time and was so nervous, although they weren't and got 2 distinctions and a merit. I also find it far more stressful putting students in for festivals and listening to them than I do playing in them myself.

Hmm yeah I want to switch to TG, but it won't be practical for a lot of the pupils I teach. However, whereever possible I will be using TG, especially for any exams I do, why on earth do I want to give MY money to the AB ..madness .

The first one is probably the worst - although I can't remember that far back!! ;D But I still get nervous for them even after several years of entering pupils for exams.......this time (June) has been particularly nerve-wracking!!!!

Aww! I can safely say that my pupil was a lot more nervous than I was!!

I've got exams starting a week Thursday, and then the Friday, and the following Monday and Tuesday. I can't play half of the piano parts!!!! I'm getting scared now! I'm going to be much more strict in future about who I enter cus it's been too stressful this term!

Aw good luck!
What piano parts are you struggling with?

It's more about the colume fo piano parts I have to learn!!! The easier ones are fine. I have cracked the Bach G minor sonata and Bozza Aria for my grade 7 now. Just about got the Godard Alloegretto, but she's also doing the Sicilienne from Bachs' E major sonata for her grade 6, and it's got an awful pianoart!!!! It's B#'s and E#'s all over the place!!!
On the upside, my grade 4 sax student, who';s still in primary school played Rhapsody in Blue stunningly today!!!

Oooh 2 grade 4 sax students I know are doing Rhapsody in Blue . I think the Bozza Aria is quite an ok piano part. Not so sure about the Bach though!

Bozza Aria is a really hard part. It may only be 3 slow quavers per bar, but there's about 4 notes in each hand mist of the time!!!!

Yeah, it's a shame the Bach G minor is a good piece for grade 7 flute and grade 8 sax. Hey ho .
