What do you do with students after they have just taken an exam?

I bet Steve gives them a big glass of lemonade and tells them a funny story!

Depends on the student, but with the more *ahem* responsible ones, I tell them to choose a couple of new pieces and show me what they can do with them. Others we pick up where we left off in various books - usually more of a fun focus at first unless we have a target (like GCSE music exams!)
I also provide chocolates and well dones, and allow them to describe in detail, the examiner's tie if they so wish.

I am not a teacher but I will give you my opinion anyway . Something that will appeal to them and enjoy or if they have a particular piece they want to work on and it is within there abilty. Oh and it is nice to give them a break from scales That is what I wanted to do after my exam something fun, I chose a piece and my teacher chose the other.

As a student, after exams I want to consolidate a bit rather than rushing to the next grade. Make sure my technique is solid and I have the foundation to move it on. This involves some more scales and exercises, but also some different repertoire at my level and to, as Suzy says, see what I can do with it. I think this is probably the best time as the pressure is off for a while.

Straight after, for a couple of weeks, I like to play duets for fun. Generally they will have worked hard for the exam (though not always!!!!) and it's nice to relax with some fun duets and tines they know for a while

We're working on pieces for my students' party/concert in September. Also the closing date for a local festival in November is the end of July and you have to nominate pieces at the time of entering.
