This is definitely one of those results where marks and comments do not tally. Maybe the examiner was anxious that nobody else had to endure the racket this chap was making. ;D

I can only assume that the examiner was sympathetic to the fact that he was an adult, and put all the blunders down to nerves - but that shouldn't be the case.

Viva - 7/7 SR - 8/10 Aural - 8/8 (This was Grade 3, by the way.) I'd never have given him these marks for these sections either. I must say I'm put off the London College by this. I know what you mean. So am I. It gives such a false impression. I have always felt the standard was lower than other boards and having seen my latest result I am convinced of it. Wonder if our students had the same examiner, Dulciana?? Well done - I think!!

How about an appeal to the board that the marks are too high ; would make a change from what they usually get I'd imagine ;D.

Maybe the examiner has used the new 'roll a dice' mark scheme, and moderators will ensure that he let goes of it correctly.

Just a few 'after the event' thoughts. This guy was SO delighted to have got a merit that he is currently one of my most highly motivated pupils, so if the examiner was trying to give encouragement it certainly worked; and I'm actually thinking now that maybe he wasn't so wrong to give a bit of consideration to the fact that he was an adult - assuming that's what he did. It is only Grade 3 after all, and not a fellowship. Complete change of attitude by me? What the place where satan lives! I'll probably be reverting back again if he ever enters for Grade 4 - and he's bought the book and the CD for TG, and has two pieces underway, so it may be sooner than we think! But he's not getting away with not playing other stuff as well this time!

When I read 'what the place where satan lives' there I thought that satan himself was on my back. I thought, "Hey, I didn't say that! Who said that?"

After the lessons today I expect 2 of my 7 to fail...oops. Last time I'm ever entering any pupils for an exam unless they know their scales and will practice. One of them still doesn't know G major, I've done it every week bar 1 since September ARGH.
