This one about Amy-Jo's grade 4 scales tickled me enormously: "Generally secure apart from the contrary motions. These sounded somewhat exploratory."

Sight-reading - "totally inaccurate in notes and rhythm."
"Don't cross your legs when playing the piano..."

Can't remember the exact wording on my Grade 7 sight-reading, but it was something about unexpected modulations to remote keys! OUCH!!

Not written down, but in my grade 8 piano the examiner said when it was time to do aurals:
'Okay, so if you'd like to stand by the piano there facing this way, if you can bear to look at me....'

You should have said "I can just about bear to look at you, it's the aural I can't bear to do" .

Not an examiner's comment, but my school report once said....
"Stuart's work comes in brilliant flashes separated by long intervals during which I presume he recovers from the strain of effort"

That's as rotten as my uncle's report card on which the maths master had written "works doggedly" Underneath, the music master had put, "sings doggedly"!

...grade 7 scales.... "an anxious delivery and increasingly needing a readier and securer command as you went on: a number of exploratory examples and some confusion." ;D ;D ;D ie I fell to bits.

Very good responses. There were slips in B, and errors in C and D.
How can that be very good responses!!

I like the schoolboy's first report which was received with great enthusiasm by his parents: "trying". His second term report was also received with great enthusiam: "still trying". The third term report was rather more enlightening however: "still very trying"...........
