I gave Lara a lesson at her home tonight. Never mind why; the reasons are unimportant. On arrival, a breathless and sweaty Lara let me in. I fought my way past Becks, the soppy Terrier (tummy tickle), Jess (the younger sister wanting recognition of her new clothes) and Maisy (5 years and a chocoholic - guess what got me past there ;D) Lara explained that she was sweaty because she had just been practising her dancing. Further questioning at the end of her lesson brought forth the explanation that she is a keen dancer at school. She has been asked to choreograph a routine for Red Nose day for herself and 5 other dancing addicts. Aware of what was expected of me, I asked her to show me her moves. Wow. Fantastic, is all I can say. That was just with Lara on her own; I would pay money to watch the effect of an equally well-drilled troupe of 6. Isn't it fantastic how creative kids can be? This little episode reminded me why I do the job I do. Not that I needed reminding.............

Ah..that's lovely. I'm still fairly new to teaching but am getting very fond of my pupils. I just loved the Christmas cards they made for me. No funny stories yet, but I don't need reminding that I need a box of tissues handy with this weather. Is it just me, or does anyone else find themselves saying 'would you like a tissue?' Bless!

Better than having the little so-and-sos snotting all over the piano ;D ;D ;D ;D The secret to enjoying them is to love their presence without being blind to their faults.

It's hard to be blind when they actually start eating their snots...

Did you know that the French equivalent for "I could do that with my eyes shut" is "I could do that with my fingers in my nose."
