If anyone knows of a good source of corvine (from crows) flight primary feathers - the long pointy ones - then harpsidoc would be most grateful to have news of them, or if they're hundreds of miles away and people didn't mind, would even love to have a few sent. It's not necessary to massacre the birds, it happens to be the moulting season: and size should indicate whether they're from crows or not, since they need to be black to qualify, and blackbirds are rather little in comparison. Harpsidoc puts them in harpsichords, where they make part of the plucking mechanism, and feather is by far the best material for the job: he recently re-quilled an instrument for a concert, and the sound was utterly superb, having been somewhat tired before. So, if anyone does have access to a few crow flight primaries, he'd be delighted to have them, and can be contacted either through me, or at St Cecilia's Hall in Edinburgh, where he works . And if anyone wants to see the biggest harpsichord collection in the UK and hear some of the instruments, they could even bring a few along in person ...

Damn. Me too. There are umpteen crows nests nearby that I would love to take a shotgun to. Hey ho. Blasting off randomly is probably illegal anyhow.
