I've just discovered naxos.com, and I've taken out their 20$ subscription so I can listen to their whole collection. Brilliant resource....now I can waste even more time at my computer.
Anyone know if I can set up some sort of playlist? At the moment I'm listening a track at a time, so as soon as the track has finished I have to select the next one. Any way of listening to a whole CD?

You need a full membership (pricey!) to listen to full tracks. The 20$ option is not bad. Those of you doing music at uni might have an access name and password. I assume?

I have access to the Naxos music library, which has the same content as the main Naxos website but is aimed at universities etc. - the institution takes out a subscription and gets a username and password which it can give to its staff and students, which they can then use to listen to the music at home or at a university computer. Probably the best thing the library has done - out-of-date computer science books aren't too useful .

I asked my uni to subscribe for us all, don't know if they have. Might just do it myself.

Does anyone know of a similar site whereby you get to listen to, say, a small number of full tracks per day, for free? classicalarchives has this facility, but doesn't have what I'm looking for (specifically the Italian Concerto at the minute). It only has electronic-sounding files; I'm looking for proper performances. I did actually go out today to buy CDs, amongst other things, and managed to come back with the other things, but not the CDs!

If it is a certain piece you want, why don't you try to find it on a pay-per-download kind of site? (If that's the right terminology!), though not sure if iTunes has many classical tracks and I don't know of any more like that as I don't do internet downloads (technology in our house hasn't advanced quite that far yet...!) There is a new service from classic fm - there was an introductory thing where if you join you get 40/50 free downloads then it's about £9 a month for 40 downloads I think, but you can cancel the subscription....I presume that if you register then you could get the piece as a download then you just have to remember to cancel your subscription!

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the classicfm service and will have a go at that.
