The garden was Hoggie Central tonight. Granted, it is probably Hoggie Central every night, but hoggies only appear at dusk. At this time of year, this coincides with Steve sitting in the garden with his first nightcap, so they get noticed. I was sent dizzy by the little blighters hurtling up and down the garden ;D Not too sure that concomitant the sounds of ripped out undergrowth mean favourable things for the flowering plants, but hey ho. Can't have everything, I suppose ;D They all sound healthy too, since I dosed them with Panacur. Remember this time last year, YAP, and your advice that there is something the vets can provide to help with coughing hoggies? There is a whole tribe of hoggies out there benefiting from this advice.

I take it nobody goes for midnight walks barefoot in your garden? I wish we'd had hoggies the night I went out without the usual alternative sandals - and stepped on a slug.

Thanks for your previous advice about hoggie food. Have decided to try to put some out after I get back from hols so they don't get dependent on the stuff in our garden before I go away. I know there out there...

Just don't walk into one in the dark when you've got open-toed sandals on.........

The hoggie I saw the other week was beautiful, and didn't even try to turn into a ball as I said ppppo. I know there about, its just I don't want to start feeding them until I'm back from holiday.

You do end up feeling responsible for them, so it is best not to start until you can be regular. It is worth putting food down in a sheltered spot, so that you can continue doing so during the winter. Hoggies wake periodically from their snooze, mad hungry; it helps them if they had a reliable food source.

So Steve when I'm back and armed with a few kilos of dried hoggie food, how often do you advise feeding them.

So Steve when I'm back and armed with a few kilos of dried hoggie food, how often do you advise feeding them. I feed them every day whilst they are awake. During hibernation, I keep an eye on the bowl and refill if the level drops of the food looks manky. What a softie.
