I travelled to Ruth's house to give her a piano lesson on Monday night. Ruth is a 16 year old year 12 atudent, with a penchant for cooking tasty biscuits. She offered me one of her latest batch, with the warning that it tasted soapy and that I should try one for experimental purposes only. I broke off a tiny corner and popped it in. Ruth did the same, to keep me company. Initial reactions were good - crunchy, tasty, pleasant. After a few seconds, a slightly soapy taste manifested itself. This taste gradually increased in intensity. After about a minute, it felt as though I had eaten a whole soap bar. Extraordinary. The Weasley brothers would have been proud. Four Roses chocs and a cup of coffee later and we could still taste the soap. Is this a unique recipe?

Could have been worse...at least it shows that she probably washed her hands before she started cooking!
