You might like Puck actually, I had a mess around with it a couple of years ago: it's not that difficult to actually play it's just the speed that's hard (I never sped it up since I was only messing around with it ). The key signature isn't that bad to get over as it's just an almost everything flat one and most of the piece is in similar patterns. If you do play it I recall the AB writing something like 'Grieg's metrenome mark seems excessively fast' in their edition so if TG don't say that then I'd check out the metrenome mark: the AB actually suggested a slower one in the exam syllabus book (the blue 2000ish one).

You're too good for your own good . Tried the Puck years ago . I might give it ago then, if I ever remember the flats...

Oh my...put the metronome on this morning as a laugh to see how fast the Puck needs to go and the Song without words...tried to play along..and failed. It was so bad it was actually quite funny .

Did you add your own four-letter words to the song without one?

I think the Bach Partita is by far the nicest option! This is actually the TG syllabus that I'm struggling with the most. Pupils in other grades are spoilt for choice, but I'm finding it difficult here to get three pieces that two pupils in particular would be willing to spend the time on. Said pupils don't have Grade 5 theory yet, so AB is not an option if they want to do this in the short term - which they do. They're great players but hate theory. Personally, I don't think this is a huge amount harder than the Two-part invention in F - just longer - which one did very successfully for Guildhall Grade 5. I love to see pupils taking an interest in Bach, because there's nothing more satisfying to play!

Yuk! Bach! No way!
I'm "doing" the Poulenc Nocturne, Puck by Grieg and the Mendelssohn.

Did he write that in 1020?! ;D *imagines sax of wood and ivory* Bach's music is wonderful - I'm just starting to learn a sonata which has one line of music for me, two for the keyboard and they're ALL doing amazing things, apparently independently of each other, yet meshing together. He hands the melody round, turns it upside down, and it's almost impossible to tell who is accompanying whom. Just pity my husband who is having to learn two out of the three parts and then try to play them round my dodgy counting.... It is exhilarating when it goes right...

Hehe, BWV 1020 . I disagree with you saying his music is wonderful, but I have no decent counter argument, so I'll agree to disagree with you .
