I was wondering has anyone found one that actually works?? or knows of any? I have tried a few things but nothing seems to make much difference

No, I've not.
I know you can get saxophone mutes, but I've no idea where from and I have no idea if they are any good!
What do you want one for?

I am moving out into a flat for uni in about a month and last year my playing didn't go down to well with my neighbors (and that was only one instrument now it is three) so to save any trouble this year I am trying to find a way of quieting down...
I have tried the sax-mute gig bag which made no difference, neither does stuffing my sax

I am moving into a flat with 4 people only one I know (she has said ok as long as I can play angels by the time she comes back) Last year one flat mate had a problem....I did used to play loudly when he was hungover The flat next door thought it was a violin , it was the people in the flat above me that had the problem and made a complaint I hope they will be more accepting of my playing this year

You should be ok, just play at reasonable hours!

I did that last year, and they still complained I only played between 2-6pm which I thought was reasonable Though I will sound a better than last year I actually sound like I am playing music now ;D

That is very reasonable!
Hehe, you are better, and they should just accept that you need to practice!

Yup they are going to have to suffer my grade 3 pieces over and over again rather than by woodwind method book... I think (from a thread in tsr) I have a musician in one of the flats above me as so I doubt they will complain

That'd be good.
If they complain, play louder!

Go you!
Just say, "well I don't complain when you stumble in drunk at who knows what time in the morning so don't complain when I want to play".

I don't need to cos there is no way that I am living with him this year, though I will use it if any of my new flat mates complain
