I have been given the choice of Grade 2 in October or Grade 3 in December. So I was wondering what pieces you lovely people would recommend for Grade 3 Trinity?

I'm not as familiar with the Trinity stuff, but am looking into it.
I'd recommend:
List A: I don't know many of these, but have a few so I'll search for them. Bach Minuet in G is quite a nice tune.
List B: Finzi's Carol is fab! Albinoni Adagio is nice. I don't have the music for the Mozart Ave Verum but I love the piece.
List C: The Rae and Wilson studies are nice. I'll have a look at some of the others and let you know.
Do you have any of the pieces on the syllabus at all?

Erm I have the Gershwin book in the A list and I think maybe the 50 Classical Studies in the C list but that is it, I only own 4/5 clarinet books.

That's ok, what do you think of the pieces you have got? If you like them, do those, and see what lists are left for you to find pieces from. You can always use some of my music.

The gershwin is ok I am not convinced of the rhythms yet but will look over it when I get a chance, the same more or less goes for the Demintz (think that is right) on the C list (I need to look up a fingering or two for that)
It is just the B one really as I haven't got any of the books to see the pieces, though you are the second person who has reccomended the Finzi piece, so may see about getting that book.

Yes, the Finzi book is good generally not just for the Carol grade 3 piece. There are 5 pieces in it, one is grade 3, one is grade 8 and the other 3 are around grade 6.

I will have a look at getting it, and I the fact I may be able to use it in other exams is good

I said the same thing when buying a sax, oh I'll just get one for the sake of it. Now look, I did my grade 8 asap, and it's my first study .

I don't think I will be doing grade 8 on either for a long time.
I have tried to work it out for sax and it has me taking my grade 8 in about 2/3 years if all goes well, clarinet would probably be about the same time if I keep it up.

I spent so long when I was younger refusing to take grades and now I keep thinking about the ones I would like to work for and get ;D . I will always play for fun, thats why I now seem to have two sax teachers one for grades and one for fun things like jazz and popular stuff Dunno how long I am going to be able to keep it up though

Yeh, I was pushed into doing grades on a few instruments and it made me hate playing, so I'm trying not to do that to myself now, nor my pupils!
