I was thinking I didn't know you played the recorder that well! Congrats to your person anyway!

Fantastic. Congratulations to the person in question. And congratulations to you too YAP, because whatever they say, the truth is that it is a team effort. Were you nervous for the exam? I know my teacher, who accompanied me, was for mine.

Thanks anacrusis . I wasn't too nervous, certainly not as bad as I was for the first diploma exam I accompanied: not only was that the first diploma I'd accompanied, but the first exam of any kind. This time I knew I could perform as an accompanist under exam performance pressure .

Thanks anacrusis . I wasn't too nervous, certainly not as bad as I was for the first diploma exam I accompanied: not only was that the first diploma I'd accompanied, but the first exam of any kind. This time I knew I could perform as an accompanist under exam performance pressure . Great. I do think such a lot rests on good accompaniment - our Trinity rep was dinging on about it-doesn't-count-what-the-accompaniment-is-like-it's-the-soloist etc. (perhaps because bringing in our harpsichord was going to make extra hassle) - but my examiner wrote "a good ensemble with the harpsichord" at one point, which really justified my having dug my heels in... Are you up for an accompaniment under Scottish Meeting pressure?!

I was wondering about that. Do you think I could squash the kids into a roof-box?! (The big one is 5'6" and grows visibly most days)...our harpsi has had the JR touch applied to it, so even though it was made by an amateur as his first project, it goes rather well. Needs a buffstop lever repair, but not too bad at all otherwise. Can you tune harpsichords too?

A pity my husband hasn't finished building the pair of spinets he's been working on for...er... a little while. One of those might be more transportable.

Can you tune harpsichords too? Sadly, no. Well, I tuned one badly out of tune string once, but that doesn't really count: I couldn't really make it any worse....

Right. High time you got yourself over to here to meet my husband and get him to show you. As you have perfect pitch, you have a useful starting point. When are you going to come? Concerto Caledonia are playing tomorrow at 6pm, and Monica Huggett is coming, I think on Saturday.
