RNCM Saxophone Orchestra
This year's triple-bill concert begins with the RNCM's Saxophone Orchestra playing new works by RNCM composition tutors and students. Then, saxophone soloist Christian Forshaw performs music from his hauntingly beautiful Sanctuary album, which was nominated for a both a Classical Brit award in 2005 and voted into Classic fm's 2005 Hall of Fame. For the finale we are delighted to welcome world-class saxophonist Tim Garland with his Lighthouse Trio, featuring pianist Gwilym Simthingy, who brought the house down at last year's Sax Day in his set with Bob Mintzer and drummer Asaf Sirkis.

Well, this is subject to change but my first thoughts on what I'll go to are:
Sax orchestra thing, and then some random masterclasses and workshops, with a break in between some of them to go look at instruments. Then the concert in the evening.

Yes do that, we can go and try loads of clarinets and saxes . That sounds like fun, I hadn't thought about bringing my clarinet mouthpiece along, it might give me a chance to try a few as I might be getting one for christmas

'If you want a new instrument, reeds or just some advice there’ll be plenty of time to visit one of the largest saxophone trade exhibitions in the UK, with many of the UK’s leading saxophone retailers, manufacturers and publishers and an on-site free repair service available throughout the day.'
I am looking forward to this, might need a trip to the bank in the morning just in case ;D

Yeah think there are trains every 30min or so until midnight, don't know if I will be getting the train back or not ...I might see about getting a taxi from Hooton ( my mum and gran have hit the roof at the idea of me getting the train late at night and are offering to pay for me to get one )

Thanks for the offer Nat but I am in lectures at 10am on Monday morning so it is probably easier if I go home, but if you could point me in the direction of a taxi rank when we get back that would be great

I'll be ok on the M53, then we go onto the M56, so as long as I get onto the M56 then that's ok! Then it's virtually straight on, it's when we get into Manchester that the fun begins . It does look very simple, hardly any turnings, but I just need you to look out for street names so I go down the correct ones . I expect there will be signs too . On the way back will be interesting, I have no idea other than I need to get onto the M56 towards Chester and eventually get onto the M53. How I get back onto the M56 from RNCM is another matter in itself . I can't wait .
