I finally have my exam results for all my kiddywinkles!! Both my grade 5 theory pupils passed which is very good news. As for practical, I'm very happy there as well. I had one kid fail (but that was expected ) and the rest all passed. I had one merit (126) for a grade 4 sax, and one distinction (130) for a grade 7 flute. Happy happy me. I had 20 in overall, including the two theory grades. I had quite a lot in this time that were hard workers rather than natural musicians, so it's really nice to see those kids securing high passes. I'm over the moon about the distinction for grade 7 flute. She did grade 5 a year ago with her old teacher and got a merit. Came to me in September, and we've got through her getting 96 for grade 5 theory, and skipping grade 6 and getting a distinction in grade 7.

Well done kflute! It's really satisfying when the hard workers do so well. Not everyone is a natural. I'm pleased with my results too - the best batch for a long time: Theory Grade 1 distinction Grade 5 pass Practical Three prep tests - all VERY nervous, but now keen to do Grade 1 (well done Mr Examiner!) 2 x grade 1 merits 1x grade 2 pass 2 x grade 2 merit 1 x grade 2 distinction 1 x grade 3 merit 3 x grade 3 distinction 1 x grade 4 merit 1 x grade 5 pass 1 x grade 5 merit 1 x grade 6 distinction Marks ranged from 114 to 137

well done annc. That's a really good set of results xx Thanks kflute. As you might have guessed, there were not a few "naturals" in there. I don't dare hope to repeat that in December - candidates then are the "hard workers", for whom to pass is THEIR distinction.

still waiting for my last result to coem through, but so far I've had Grade 1 singing (trinity) pass Grade 4 singing (trinity) fail Grade 6 singing (trinity) fail Grade 1 piano (ABRSM) merit - 127
a mixed set of results, but one I've learnt from too. The two students who failed are determined to pass in december. In one case, there will be a change of repertoire, in another she will be learning new material, but I expect she'll still use some of the music she prepared last time.
As for the other two, they are enjoying having lessons without exam pressure for a while, especially as my Piano pupil is expecting her first baby at the end of August. This makes her merit at grade 1 particularly good, as she was slightly ditsy in her scales, and area where during lessons she would have lost very few marks!

AnnC I completely agree with the hard workers. I remember my first set of results as a teacher, and beign really dissapointed. But then I soon realised, actually for Tom Dick and Harry to come out with 108 is a really good achievemnet for them.
i had about 20 students in this time. It's just 10 I think for Christmas term. I've got quite a mix there. I'll be hoping for my first grade 8 distinction pupil!!!! I have an extremely talented one going in. I have another grade 8 as well!! I'm also trying to work out whether I should do grade 8 piano myself at Christmas or leave it until Easter!!!

quick update, my final result is in, namely my son's Grade 1 singing.
Pass 110. A very credible mark for a 7 year old the rest of the family are delighted.
