I entered three candidates for their AB exams last sessions, a 12 year old male piano student, myself and Matti.
In September Matti, was more than capable of passing his Grade 4 singing, but he failed. So why, as his loving mother did I make him go through with it.
Firstly I had his examed moved due to some rather unfortunate domestic circumstances that I won't go into here, but if anyone know what a CAF form is, then there is a completed form awaing hubby's signature.
He had a further two and a half weeks to practice and didn't, I went to town with him to try to get him there, but it didn't work. So I felt all we had to loose was the fee if he failed, and he might learn a valuable lesson about practice.
He knew he had failed as soon as we had left, but he does not feel a failure. We're going to just enjoy our singing time for awhile, and next time he asks me "mummy can I take an exam" I think he'll do the work.
For the record, I took my exam in the middle of the mayhem, Grade 7 recorder and was so nervous I was shaking like a leaf and passed. My other pupil passed too.
