The Music Theory in Practice book is horrible for Grade 6. Wordy, fill of extraneous details, no real practical help for questions - it made Grade 6 seem twice as hard as it actually is. The big 6 book is much better.

Might have to get that because Ive had the M.T.I.P book for about a year and a half looked at the first page and gave up coz i didnt have a clue what it was on about!

To be honest, that is probably one of the better ways, because you see exactly what you have to do for each question. Then you can see what you can't do (most of it) and work on it accordingly.

The big 6 book focuses on each of the questions and suggests a good way to go about answering them. Plus it has a load more of the 4 and 5 style questions, usefully with answers. Plug over.

I think I'm just going to have to go for it and hope that I can learn enough from the past papers. Don't have the money to be buying more books I won't use again.

Do you want to talk about modulation when you've got a bit more time? Might help a few other people too .

I think you would benefit from some 'The L. Ron Hubbard of Music' teaching to help you with your modulations....
