I noticed the same thing: people used to want to talk about music; but now people only want to chat. I have no objection to chatting in itself, but it seems that there's very little music to go with it now . Whenever I complain I get told I have to have musical discussions, all very well but I can't have them with myself . YAP and I even started a thread about it on TOP a while ago. I was delighted that abrown left Violinia's thread open, this is the sort of old discussion we used to be allowed to have when CMORRIS was incharge . Maybe things will start to improve soon with the slightly more liberal attitude.

although it might be slower to get an answer, I know I'll get a sensible one here. Hey, we're not slow - just reflective, thoughtful people who give carefully-considered advice! No its just that with fewer people online it can take more time to get a response. I accept that. Nothing personal.

I know what you mean - it sort of just came across as "I'm bored!" But I knew what your point was!
No offence, by the way!

I do. Several. I don't use any of them because I have no interest in contributing. I only set them up to show that I could. Whom did I show? Me. I was bored at the time. One weekend, I might trash one of them to post a, "This is what actually happened to SteveHopwood" thread. Sorry - I'm afraid I can be very flippant sometimes - especially when I see an ambiguous comment or bad spelling........ I do wish you were back there in some form or another. I read the forums for a long time before I contributed, and things there have definitely changed recently. I'm not really talking about the moderators actions here - it's the quality of the questions and answers. People are posting for the sake of posting (of course I'd never be guilty of theat myself... ) and answers are often very flippant. It's great just to have a chat and share personal experiences from time to time, but there's very little proper debate these days on actual music. As in how to approach playing it and teaching it! Anything that starts off with potential usually ends up dwindling away and doesn't get down to specifics in the way that that old trills thread did, for instance, when there was a lot of very interesting discussion between you and YAP. Few posters are really thinking very deeply any more about what they say, and very often one offering bears no relation to the next. The moaning about parents in the teachers' forum does have its place, I suppose, but it's all been said now! I'd much rather have some proper debate on musical technique and interpretation, but these threads seem to dry up very quickly. Is no one interested!!?? Sorry - I'm afraid I can be very flippant sometimes - especially when I see an ambiguous comment or bad spelling........

That's not what I meant! I meant that people make comments that are meant to be serious, but are just not!
