How come all the topics i want to reply to are now closed . Never mind Because as was sometimes mentioned the debate never really got anywhere and it was just pointless posting, we weren't going to agree with them, and they weren't going to agree with us. Ah well! Oh and I guess we had plenty of complaints made against us .

I still don't quite understand why this thread was closed, or why people were banned because of it. Have some bits been deleted? We're all entitled to an opinion, and if we all have the same opinion, then what's it all about? Nothing is more stimulating than a good argument, as long as nobody is personally insulted. Did I miss something? (I have to say, mind you, that I didn't read every single post; I scanned...)

Some of my posts were deleted yes. I can see I've been quoted a fair few times but not all of my posts are there.
There were probably personal insults, there always were, but it wasn't one sided I can say that.
Heyho, it's done with.

About the new TG piano books.
Is it just me, or does anyone else find themselves struggling to see the finger numbers that have been put in here? They seem desperately small, and I'm continually invading pupils' personal space to peer at the book - usually breathing garlic or worse all over them!

They are very small.

I'm in a real quandry re exam syllabus!! Hi everyone, by the way...been a long summer with no forum contact, apart from a brief bit of fun on the AB the other day. forums.abrsm.org/index.php?showtopic=18562Anyway, I don't like the AB Grade 1 choices in the set book (set A is o.k.) and not looked at the alternative pieces yet. Is it time to go to Trinity?

Is it time to go to Trinity? It does no harm to take a look. CD has also been looking at LCM's syllyblobs; she says there are no scales at all - a 4th piece instead. I am going to have a look myself this weekend. By the by, I'm not ignoring you email, Mitch. I shall write back over the weekend.

The LCM Grade 2 and 3 pieces are particularly nice at the minute! The study, though, considering it doesn't carry the same marks as the pieces (it's an alternative to scales) is quite hard - especially if they're to play it at the suggested tempo.

Thanks for that. I am doing LCM Grade 5 with my sons (they would have given up by now if any other board) and these pieces are lovely. I try to be loyal to AB with my students but it seems UCAS are happy with the other boards, especially Trinity, so maybe I should be.

Going back to comments I have made about TG organisation being local and all that this implies, I received this email from the Doncaster organiser last night: Angela Belbin-Wood wrote: > Hi Steve > > Relax - They all passed!!! > > Results in the post tomorrow > > AngelaThe exams were Monday, so I knew within three more days that all the kids had passed. It is brilliant that Angela takes such trouble. Those of you familiar with exam prep not always going as smoothly as it should, will sympathise with my reply: Ehup Angela Many thanks for that. I would like to say, "Thanks, but I never had any doubts" but:
Amy can play like an angel. She can also play like a drain. There was no predicting which Amy would turn up on Monday.
Picture the scene three weeks before the exam, with Danielle. "Danni, are you starting to panic about this exam yet?". "No" replied a clearly mystified Danni, in that tone of voice that kids reserve for adults who are clearly several thousand biscuits short of a tin. "Then you should be. On today's performance, everything is failing and you stand to achieve a record, all-time low mark that could well stand the test of time and countless other young lunatics unable to comprehend just how short a time is three weeks. Start panicking, ok? Even better, start panic-induced practise, ok?"
So, many thanks again and "phew".
Steve
